Melissa is a textile designer, colour separator and creative, based in the UK, splitting her time between London and Kent. Her expertise, enthusiasm and positive work ethic has gained over 8 years of experience across global markets within the interior industry. Melissa began her creative career after graduating from Winchester School of Art, and being selected for the prestigious TexSelect award. Her participation in the TexSelect award, lead to working with leading UK design studios such as Zoffany, Sanderson and Designers Guild. Following this, Melissa secured work at a renowned Italian woven and printing manufacturer based in the picturesque, Lake Como. These experiences established an in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing and design process across woven fabrics; especially in screen and digital print processes. Melissa has a passion for developing new and interesting techniques and can assist in collating image, material or colour research. Furthermore, Melissa has the ability to capture these starting points with hand paintings and drawings, creating original design concepts. With an extensive knowledge in colour separation techniques and production limitations, Melissa is able to create sensitive digital colour separations from not just hand paintings, also from embroideries, archive documents, even 3D objects - nothing is too obscure a starting point. Melissa is then able to develop these colour separations into accurate repeating blocks and layouts, suitable for both traditional and digital printing methods. With a flexible and personable approach, Melissa is able successfully integrate with new teams and clients, creating an enjoyable and productive atmosphere throughout the entire process.
